Check Insurance Rates Before You Buy

In some ways this is a no-brainer (think Mercedes Benz AMG SL 65 versus Chevrolet Cobalt).  If you are deciding between a couple different vehicles it may help your decision to check the insurance rates before you buy.  There’s no actual list the Insurers hand out and rates vary dramatically from company to company.  Low-profile vehicles (those less likely to be stolen) or low-risk vehicles (based on cost plus safety and theft data) are less to insure than their high-end opposites.  Your auto insurance rates will reflect this.  You may also check with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for data you can research to help you make an educated decision.
